The 3 times table, 3 × 0 through 3 × 12. Every problem on the sheet is drawn from that set and nothing outside it.

Choose 20, 50 or 100 problems and a limit of 1, 2 or 5 minutes, then print the sheet with its answer key on page two, or start the timer and type into the same grid. The problems are drawn again every time the page loads, so a second sheet is not a copy of the first. Where 3s goes wrong

The 3s check themselves through digit sums — 3, 6, 9, 12 (1+2=3), 15 (1+5=6), 18 (1+8=9). Add the digits of an answer and if the total is not a multiple of 3 the answer is wrong. Skip-counting by three is also the scaffold under the 6s and the 9s, so a shaky 3s sheet turns into two blocked sheets later.

Three that come up

How do you check a 3 times table answer?
Add the digits of the answer. If that sum is not a multiple of 3, the answer is wrong — 24 gives 6, so it passes; 25 gives 7, so it fails.
Which 3s fact do children miss most?
3 × 7 = 21 and 3 × 8 = 24, because neither sits on the skip-counting rhythm a child hears out loud.
Does the 3 times table help with other tables?
Yes. The 6s are the 3s doubled and the 9s are the 3s tripled, so weak 3s show up twice more later.
